Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University
volleyball team (3-7, 1-1 CACC) was held to just 18 kills in a
straight set 3-0 loss to conference rival Georgian Court University
(10-4, 2-0 CACC) on Tuesday night. GCU currently has the best
overall record in the CACC.
Junior Nicole Berkstresser (Bridgewater, NJ/
Bridgewater-Raritan) led the Lady Rams with eight kills, along with
a .318 attack percentage.
The Lady Lions took the first two sets handily (25-12, 25-16)
but Phila U. fought back in the third set. The score teetered
back and forth until the Lady Rams took a 10-8 lead, but GCU clawed
their way back to a 17-17 tie.
Phila U. head coach Mark Magarity called a
timeout to chat with his Lady Rams, followed by a timely block by
senior Lindsay Butler (DeKalb, IL/ DeKalb) to go
ahead 19-17.
That would be the last lead for Phila U. as they fought off one
match point but eventually fell 25-23 in the final set.
Junior Natalie Amodei (West Chester, PA/ Bishop
Shanahan) led the Lady Rams with nine digs.
The Lady Rams hit the road for a Thursday, September
25th match vs. Chestnut Hill College at 7:00 p.m.
