Rams (4-2, 1-0 CACC) put on a dominating performance in a 77-50 win
over the visiting St. Thomas Aquinas Spartans (1-2) on Tuesday
evening at the Gallagher Athletic Center. PhilaU senior guard
Russell Frederick (Baltimore, MD/ Calvert Hall)
led all scorers with 18 points, adding six boards and six assists
to boot.
STAC was led by Justin Brown with 15 points and seven
rebounds.
PhilaU shot 54% from the field, allowing STAC just 37% and went
8-17 from beyond the arc (47%) on the night.
The Rams started the first half on a 20-4 run, as senior forward
Malcolm Ingram (Philadelphia, PA/ Solebury Prep)
put up the first bucket of the contest just 14 seconds in and
PhilaU never looked back. Ingram had 14 points and seven
boards on the night. The home team's advantage ballooned to
as many as 24 in the first half as sophomore forward Corey
Francisco (Woodbridge, NJ/ Monmouth Academy) put up a
deuce to make it 41-17.
PhilaU led 41-25 at the break.
In the second stanza, Frederick exploded for 12 points
(including three of his five treys on the night). The Rams
led by a game-high of 30 points on a layup by freshman guard
Jim Connolly (Harleysville, PA/ Souderton) at 2:32
remaining. Senior guard/forward Marcus Lemon
(Alexandria, VA/ T.C. Williams) added 17 points and five rebounds
while senior forward Mike Yocum (Dresher, PA/
Episcopal Academy) contributed 14 points and six boards for the
Rams.
The squad returns to action on Saturday (11/28) when they travel
to Millersville University for a 3:00 p.m. contest.
