Philadelphia, PA- On Senior Day 2009, the
Philadelphia University women's volleyball team (30-5, 17-2 CACC)
took just 51 minutes to dismantle the Nyack College Warriors
(10-13, 10-9 CACC) 3-0, earning their 30th win of the
season.
Set scores were: 25-17, 25-13 and 25-18.
Freshman middle-hitter Ellie Edgar (Cuyahoga
Falls, OH/ Cuyahoga Falls) led all players with 10 kills, and the
Lady Rams also got big performances from senior outside hitter
Celena Rendon (San Antonio, TX/ Tom C. Clark) with
seven kills, nine digs and two blocks along with senior defensive
specialist Cindy Adams (Fleetwood, PA/ Fleetwood)
who tallied six kills nine digs and three service aces.
NC 's Brianne Cercone led her squad with nine kills and
two blocks on the day.
PhilaU picked up 16 kills from junior setter Lauren
Hoover (New Baltimore, MI/ Anchor Bay) and 14 sets from
sophomore setter Adrienne Stigura (Reading, PA/
Reading Central Catholic).
The Lady Rams return to action in the postseason on Tuesday
(11/10) when they host their CACC Quarterfinal match at 7:00 p.m.,
opponent to be determined.
