Malcolm Ingram (Philadelphia, PA/ Solebury Prep)
led his Philadelphia University Rams (20-5, 12-2 CACC) to a 67-58
win at Chestnut Hill College (6-19, 5-9 CACC) on Tuesday
night. The Rams secured a spot as the #1 seed in the CACC
South Division with the win.
The Rams outshot their opponent 45%-38% and pulled down more
rebounds (39-33) for the contest.
Junior guard Marcus Lemon (Alexandria, VA/ T.C.
Williams) had eight first half points, including a clutch three at
7:04 in the first half to give his squad a 20-16 edge. Junior
guard Russell Frederick (Baltimore, MD/ Calvert
Hall) knocked down another trey for the Rams on the next play to
give them a cushy seven point lead. Lemon finished with 15
points, while Frederick had 11 for PhilaU.
The Griffins were not finished as they got within three, and CHC
high-scorer Ryan Cook made a three-pointer at 1:50 to tie it at
28-28 going into the break.
PhilaU was nine points better than CHC in the second half, as
another Lemon trey at 16:34 would give the maroon and gray the lead
for good. The Rams would close out the final five minutes on
an 15-8 run, highlighted by an inbound fast break dunk by junior
forward Mike Yocum (Dresher, PA/ Episcopal
Academy) to make it 61-54 with 55 seconds remaining. Yocum
had seven points, 14 rebounds and three blocks for the Rams.
The Rams went 6-9 at the charity stripe in the final minute to
complete their sweep of CHC this season in a 67-58 CACC
victory.
