Lakewood, NJ- The #2 South seeded Philadelphia University volleyball team (19-9, 16-3 CACC) battled hard but saw their season come to a close in a 3-1 loss to the #1 North seeded Caldwell College Cougars (23-7, 17-2 CACC) on Friday evening at Georgian Court University.
Set scores were: 22-25, 25-22, 14-25 and 12-25.
PhilaU fell behind early, dropping a tight 25-22 first set but evened the keel with a 25-22 set two win. The Rams fought back fiercely however led by newly minted CACC 'Rookie of the Year' freshman outside hitter Leanna Lillge.
The Cougars started the fourth set on a 9-2 run and the momentum swung in their direction for the remainder of the final set, as PhilaU bowed out of the tournament with the 3-2 loss.
*The Rams have been to the CACC Championship match the past two years, finishing as CACC runners-up both times. In their previous meeting this season, the Rams won a tough 3-2 match at Caldwell on October 16th.
