Women's Soccer Unscathed in 1-1 Tie vs. Adelphi

Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University Lady Rams got a 1-1 tie in their season-opening game vs. Adelphi University Panthers in double-overtime at Ravenhill Field on a sunny Saturday afternoon.  PhilaU got their goal from sophomore forward Trisha Sileo (Islip, NY/ Islip).

The game was the first-ever PhilaU fall athletic webcast.

Sileo's goal came with just under four minutes left in the first half on an assist from freshman midfielder Janine Cascio (Kings Park, NY/ Kings Park).

AU tied it up 1-1 near the 30:00 mark on a Kim Volinski shot.

In the first OT neither team could manage a score, but AU was relentless under six minutes in the second OT, taking three close-range shots on goal that hit the post or crossbar.  However, PhilaU came out unscathed as sophomore keeper Kelli Kowalewski (Shamong, NJ/ Seneca) had 11 saves while AU's Dorothy Connolly had 17 stops for the Panthers.

The Lady Rams return to the pitch on Tuesday (9/7) when they host Shippensburg University in a non-conference match-up at 4:30 p.m.
