Box Score LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Philadelphia University women's volleyball team's 2011 came to an end after dropping a tough five-set match to Caldwell College, 3-2, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) tournament Friday night in the Wellness Center on the campus of Georgian Court University.
The two teams traded tight wins in the first two sets. The Lady Rams took the first set 25-23, while the Cougars won set two 26-24. Caldwell took a 2-1 lead with a 25-14 win in set three. Philadelphia rebounded in set four with a 25-21 win. The Cougars sealed the match win with a 15-7 victory in the fifth set.
Philadelphia, the second seed from the south, concluded its season with an overall record of 19-12. The Lady Rams had won a season-high eight matches in a row.
Caldwell advances to take on Holy Family University, a 3-1 winner over Wilmington (Del.), in the CACC tournament championship match Saturday, Nov. 12
Four Lady Rams recorded double-doubles in the match. Outside hitter Brittany Olson had 22 digs and 14 kills for her team-leading 11th double-double of the year. Outside hitter Danielle Carney had 26 digs and 10 kills. Setter Adrienne Stigura contributed 15 assists and 15 digs. Fellow setter Heather Martin tallied 17 assists and 12 digs.
Caldwell received a match-high 22 kills and 15 digs from outside hitter Susan McDonough. Middle hitters Amber Mosher and Kasey Bausch had 10 kills each. Setter Lauren Roth tallied 54 assists and 13 digs.
