Lady Rams win third straight after 3-1 victory over Millersville

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University women's volleyball came away victorious for the third consecutive match after picking up a 3-1 non-conference win against visiting Millersville Wednesday night in the Gallagher Center.

The three-match winning streak ties the Lady Rams' longest this season. Philadelphia is now 13-6 overall. Millersville drops to 7-12.

Middle hitter Ellie Edgar was the leader of the Philadelphia offense with a team-best 11 kills and a hitting percentage of .556 (11 kills-one error-18 attacks). Defensively, Edgar had six block assists. Outside hitter Brittany Olson recorded seven kills and 12 digs, while outside hitter Terra Ecker contributed six kills and four block assists.

Setters Heather Martin and Allyson Schillinger tallied 15 and seven assists, respectively. Martin also had six digs.

Outside hitter Allison Manley and libero Morgan McCarthy paced the defense with 14 digs each. Middle hitter Chelsea Hughes came through with seven block assists, while middle hitter Jordan Milligan posted five block assists and one solo block.

The Marauders' Katie Lesinski had a match-high 12 kills in the loss. Jessica Franz had a double-double consisting of 36 assists and 10 digs. Brooklyn Smith tallied a match-best 19 digs, while Taylor Smith had 10 digs. Kayla Wallace added eight kills.

Manley recorded two kills and Hughes had one to help the Lady Rams close out 25-22 set one win. The first set was a back-and-forth affair with 10 ties and six lead changes. Manley lead the Lady Rams with three kills in the set.

Ecker and Edgar took over the second set, which the Lady Rams won 25-20, with three kills each. Philadelphia was strong defensively and held Millersville to a hitting percentage of -.087 (9-13-46). The Lady Rams never trailed in the set thanks to an early 12-3 run to kick it off.

Millersville jumped out to a 12-1 set three lead on its way to a 25-15 win. Olson had three kills for the Lady Rams, who hit -.026 (6-7-38).

Edgar had five of Philadelphia's eight kills in its 25-18 final set victory. Two of Edgar's kills came during a 6-0 run that allowed the Lady Rams to get out to a 21-14 advantage. Milligan had a service ace in the spurt.

The Lady Rams travel to Nyack for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Saturday, Oct. 13 at noon.
