Box Score PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University women's soccer team remains perfect in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play after shutting post visiting Post, 3-0, Saturday afternoon on Ravenhill Field.
The Lady Rams improve to 4-0-0 in CACC play and 4-2-0 overall. Philadelphia has won four straight matches, all by shutout. Post is now 0-6-0 overall and 0-3-3 in the conference.
Defender Chelsea Riedell opened the scoring in the 39th minute with her second goal of the season. Riedell got her head on a free kick taken by midfielder Danielle Warfel to deflect it past Eagles' keeper Grace McConnell.
The Lady Rams held the 1-0 lead until they struck twice in a 26-second span to extend the gap to 3-0. At the 80:39 mark, Melissa Copeland netted her third goal of 2012 after receiving a left-wing crossing pass from forward Trisha Sileo. Forward Kristen Ferguson added her third goal of the year at 81:05 to make the score 3-0 in favor of Philadelphia. She one-touched volleyed home a crossing pass from midfielder Nicole Van Bourgondien, who was standing on the right wing.
Kelli Kowalewski and Courtney Shaw faced five Post shots, however, none were on target. McConnell made five shots for the Eagles. Philadelphia attempted 26 shots.
Philadelphia looks to push its streak to five when it visits Wilmington (Del.) for a CACC match on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 3:30 p.m.
