Box Score PHILADELPHIA – Midfielder Melissa Copeland scored twice and added an assist to the lead the Philadelphia University women's soccer team in a 4-1 Homecoming Day win over Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent Felician Saturday on Ravenhill Field.
The Lady Rams improve to 6-4-0 overall and 6-1-0 against the CACC. Felician is 4-5-1 overall and has a conference mark of 3-3-1.
Copeland scored both of her goals in the opening 18 minutes to give the Lady Rams a 2-0 lead. Her first goal came in the sixth minute as she lasered a shot across the goal into the right side after receiving a through ball from forward Kristen Ferguson. She struck again in the 18th minute after dribbling pass a defender and finding the right side of the net again. Forward Trisha Sileo assisted on Copeland's team-leading seventh goal of 2012.
Defender Chelsea Riedell gave Philadelphia a 3-0 first-half lead as she headed home a centering pass from Copeland in the 28th minute. The goal was Riedell's third this season.
Felician got on the board in the 52nd minute on a penalty kick taken by Alysia Arcona. Arcona's shot looked to be stopped by Lady Ram keeper Courtney Shaw, who came in at the 48:30 mark to replace Kelli Kowalewski, but trickled by to give her her 11th goal this year.
Ferguson netted the game's final goal in the 75th minute as she tapped in a rebound left on a shot taken by forward Janine Cascio. The score is Ferguson's sixth of the year and her sixth in the last seven matches.
In the opening 48:30, Kowalewski made two saves. Shaw ended the match with one. Felician's Allie Couzo stopped two shots.
Philadelphia owned a 12-5 shot advantage.
