Chmielewski strikes twice in women's soccer's 2-0 triumph at Concordia (N.Y.)

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Midfielder Carla Chmielewski (Glassboro, N.J./Paul VI) scored both of the Philadelphia University women's soccer team's goals in a 2-0 victory over Concordia (N.Y.) in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match on Saturday afternoon.

Philadelphia improves to 10-2-1 overall and 9-1-0 against CACC. The Rams have won three matches in a row and seven of their last eight.

Concordia is now 0-10-1, 0-9-0 in the CACC.

Chmielewski recorded both of her goals in the second half, separated by less than four minutes.

At the 57:08 mark, Chmielewski scored the first goal after making a move around a Clipper defender and putting her shot into the right side of the net. Forward Andi Neski (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y./Ossining) assisted on the play.

Chmielewski's second goal, sixth of the year, came at 61:02 on a low shot from the center of the penalty area. Neski and defender Sarah VanBuskirk (Fanwood, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) each both helped set up the goal.

Courtney Shaw (Langhorne, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) was solid once again in the Philadelphia net, making five saves to record her 10th shutout of the year.

Samantha Street stopped seven shots in a losing effort for Concordia.

The Rams heavily outshot the Clippers 26-6, 15-0 in the second half.

Philadelphia welcomes LIU Post to Ravenhill Field for a non-conference match on Monday, Oct. 22 at 3:30 p.m.
