Box Score WATERBURY, Conn. – Cristina Nasti's (Verona, N.J./Montclair Kimberley Academy) 36th-minute goal combined with smothering defense gave the Philadelphia University women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Felician on Thursday in Municipal Stadium and sent the Rams the championship match of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament.
Philadelphia (13-6-1) will play in its sixth CACC Championship match, first since 2012. The Rams are 1-4 in the final.
The Rams takes on host Post University—a 2-1 winner against Georgian Court in the other semifinal—for the conference title and an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 11 a.m. on LaMoy Field. Philadelphia is 9-2-1 overall against Post, including a 1-0 win this season on Oct. 11 in Philadelphia. The Rams are 3-2-1 all-time against the Eagles in Waterbury.
Nasti scored the match's only goal, her second of the season, after receiving a crossing pass at the left post from All-CACC second-team selection Meagan Yates (Limerick, Pa./Spring-Ford) at 35:10.
The Rams' defense held the Golden Falcons (11-5-3) to just two shot attempts during the course of the match. All-CACC first team keeper Courtney Shaw (Langhorne, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) did not have to record a save for the second straight tournament match.
Philadelphia attempted 12 shots, forcing Felician's Julia Sheridan to make four stops.
