Late goal sinks women's soccer in 1-0 loss to Queens (N.Y.)

FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Philadelphia University women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss to host Queens (N.Y.) in a non-conference match on Knights Field Tuesday.

The Rams had their season-opening four-match unbeaten streak snapped as they go to 3-1-1 overall. Queens evens its overall record at 2-2-2.

Nicolette Scrozzo scored the match's only goal in the 83rd minute off of a cross from Amanda Murolo. It was Scrozzo's first goal of the season.

Philadelphia keeper Courtney Shaw (Langhorne, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) made three saves in the loss. The Knights' Mersina Onesto was called upon to stop five shots.

The Rams owned a 13-9 shot advantage, 9-4 in the second half.

Philadelphia returns home to face Caldwell in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 4 p.m.
