Box Score

LYNDHURST, N.J. – Megan Sullivan's (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) first collegiate goal was the difference for the Philadelphia University women's soccer team as the Rams knocked off Felician 1-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match Saturday afternoon at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.

Philadelphia improves to 5-6-0 overall and 4-3-0 against the CACC. The Rams are hitting their stride in conference play with wins in four of their last five CACC contests.

Felician is now 5-5-0 overall, 5-3-0 CACC.

The Rams controlled the run of play early in the opening half with a couple solid chances at the Golden Falcon net. At the 14:27 mark, Julia Teixeira (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) beat Felician keeper Julia Sheridan, but was unable to beat the crossbar. Carla Chemielewski (Glassboro, N.J./Paul VI) forced Sheridan to make a leaping save at 26:24 to keep the match scoreless.

Sullivan finally broke through for Philadelphia as she volleyed home an Angela Ferro (Shelton, Conn./Shelton) cross from the middle of the penalty area at 37:34.

The Felician net kept Philadelphia's Alex Reyes (Vineland, N.J./Vineland) from doubling the Rams' advantage as Reyes hit the post with 33:56 left in the match.

Philadelphia's defense did a solid job in front of keeper Courtney Shaw (Langhorne, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie), holding Felician to just six shots. Shaw was able to stop the three shots that made it to her to record her second shutout of the season.

Sheridan made five stops for the Golden Falcons.

Philadelphia heads to Wilmington (Del.) for a CACC showdown on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 3:30 p.m.
