Box Score

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Philadelphia University women's soccer team is heading back to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament final after blanking Felician 1-0 in a semifinal round match on Thursday afternoon at Post University's LaMoy Field.

Philadelphia (9-8-2) squares off against fifth-seeded Caldwell (11-8-1), a 2-1 winner over top seed Georgian Court in the other semifinal, in a battle of the last two conference champions on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 1:30 p.m. at LaMoy Field. Caldwell won the CACC crown in 2013, while Philadelphia claimed last year's title. Saturday's winner receives the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA East Region Tournament.

In the regular season meeting back on Sept. 26, the Cougars defeated the visiting Rams 1-0 in overtime.

Megan Sullivan (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) forced a Felician (8-10-0) turnover inside the Felician penalty area and took advantage of it to score the match's lone goal in the 63rd minute.

Carla Chmielewski (Glassboro, N.J./Paul VI) started the sequence with a low cross into the box from the left wing, which brought Golden Falcons' keeper Julia Sheridan off of her line. In her attempt to clear the ball out of the Felician end, Sheridan hit Sullivan with her kick and had the ball ricochet back off of her into the open net.

Sullivan now has two goals this season, both coming in 1-0 victories over Felician.

After the goal, Felician turned up the heat on the Philadelphia backline and keeper Courtney Shaw (Langhorne, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie), getting five corner kicks and seven shots off over the 26:44. Of those seven shots, only two made it through to Shaw.

Shaw finished the match with five saves for her seventh shutout of the season, 28th in her career, while Sheridan had three stops.

Felician outshot Philadelphia 13-7, 11-4 in the second half, and had a 8-3 corner kick advantage.
