Box Score ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – Erin Tinneny (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) made a career-high five saves and Carla Chmielewski's (Glassboro, N.J./Paul VI) second goal of the season propelled the Philadelphia University women's soccer team to a 1-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over Dominican (N.Y.) Saturday afternoon.
Tinneny did her part early on to keep the host Chargers (0-3, 0-2 CACC) off the board with three saves in the match's first half hour. Two of Tinneny's saves came six seconds a part. At 11:54, Tinneny denied Jenna Gray, but left a rebound that fell to Elisa Falzarano. Tinneny came up big, making the save on Falzarano's second chance to keep the match scoreless.
Chmielewski finally broke through for the Rams (2-4, 1-1 CACC) at the 33:46 mark with her team-leading second goal this year. She took advantage of Dominican keeper Melissa Richards, who had to lay out to make a stop on Carley Sliwka (Freehold, N.J./Freehold). Chmielewski deposited the ball into the open net for the team's first goal in 329 minutes of action.
The Philadelphia defense made the goal hold up over the final 66:16, holding Dominican to just two shots. Tinneny had to make a save on one of those two attempts.
Philadelphia finished the match with a season-high 16 shots, while Dominican had five.
Richards had six saves for the Chargers.
Philadelphia returns to action with a home CACC contest against Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 3:30 p.m.
