Box Score PHILADELPHIA – Nicole Raab (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) and Carla Chmielewski (Glassboro, N.J./Paul VI) each found the back of the net to lead the Philadelphia University women's soccer team to a 2-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over visiting Goldey-Beacom Wednesday afternoon on Ravenhill Field.
The Rams, who posted back-to-back wins for the first time this season, improve to 3-4-0 overall and 2-2-0 against the CACC. Goldey-Beacom dips to 1-4-0 overall, 1-2-0 in conference play.
Philadelphia remains undefeated against Goldey-Beacom, increasing its winning streak against the Lightning to 13.
The Rams controlled play in the opening half, enjoying a 14-0 shot advantage, but didn't break through until the 44th minute. Raab scored her first goal of the season with a right-footed shot after receiving a centering pass from Julia Teixeira (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull), who played a lob into the box from the left wing.
The assist was Teixeira's first point as a Ram.
Chmielewski doubled the advantage to 2-0 with her team-leading third goal of 2015, coming in the 77th minute. Chmielewski delivered a beautiful left-footed shot from the right side of the box that curled inside the left post, leaving Lightning keeper Cindell Aguirre no chance to make a save.
Goldey-Beacom got one back with an 82nd-minute goal from Kelsey Vick. It was her second goal of the year.
Philadelphia keeper Courtney Shaw (Langhorne, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) stopped two shots to post her second win of the season. Aguirre made nine saves for the Lightning.
The Rams attempted a season-high 26 shots, while holding the Lightning to three.
Philadelphia heads to Caldwell for a CACC contest on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 11:30 a.m.
