PHILADELPHIA - The Thomas Jefferson University volleyball team (15-3, 6-3 CACC) swept Goldey-Beacom, 3-0, in a CACC match at the Gallagher Center on Wednesday night.
 
GAMEPLAY
The Rams improved their hitting as the night went along (.242/.361/.412) and finished with a .340 percentage for the match. It was the Lightning, however, who had an early 6-3 lead in the first set. At 9-7, Jefferson rallied for 12 of the next 14 points to take a 19-11 advantage. The Rams went on to win the set 25-16.
 
GBC opened up a 9-4 advantage in the second frame. The Lightning still maintained a five-point cushion at 14-9. The Rams followed with five of six to get within one (15-14). Goldey-Beacom had an 18-16 edge when Jefferson embarked on a 9-1 run to stun the Lightning and capture the set 25-19.
 
In the third, the Rams were ahead 4-2 when GBC tallied five straight to take the lead. Jefferson followed with four points to go in front by one before the Lightning evened the score at eight. With the score tied at 10, Jefferson posted five of six for a 15-11 advantage. The visitors eventually closed the gap to one (19-18) but the Rams scored the last six points to clinch the match.
