PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University men's soccer team picked up its first victory of the season on Tuesday, shutting out visiting Felician by a 3-0 score.
The win was the 100
th career triumph for head coach
Ptah Myers. He is the third coach in program history to reach the milestone. The Rams have a 1-3 record for the season.
GAMEPLAY
Jefferson controlled play in the opening half, outshooting the Golden Falcons by a 7-2 count and owning a large 8-0 advantage in corner kicks. The Rams struck in the 15
th minute after they were awarded a throw-in on the left sideline in the offensive end.
Geoffrey Little launched a long throw towards the goal. The ball bounced off the goalkeeper's hands and into the net for Little's first career goal.
The Rams kept up the pressure to start the second and were quickly awarded a penalty kick in the 47
th minute.
Mohamed Jawara converted for his second goal of the season and put Jefferson ahead 2-0.
Vince Bulzoni gave the Rams their final tally in the 89
th minute, heading in a corner kick from
Noah Stover. Jefferson had a 10-1 edge in shots during the second period and finished ahead 17-3 for the match.
John Nelson stopped three shots for his first collegiate clean sheet.
