PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University and Nyack College combined for 49 runs in their CACC baseball doubleheader on Monday afternoon, but it was the Rams who came out on the positive side twice with 17-11 and 17-4 victories. Jefferson is now 7-2 on the season with a 4-1 conference mark.
GAME ONE – W, 17-11
The Warriors opened the game with two runs in the first and the Rams got one back in the bottom half to make it 2-1. Two RBI singles in the second gave Nyack a 4-1 lead and Jefferson scored its own run to get within two. The Rams went ahead with a three-run third, including a go-ahead, two-run, inside-the-park home run by
Ryan Sawyer.
Nyack regained the advantage with two in the fourth but Jefferson jumped in front for good with a six-run frame, including a RBI triple by
Ryan Coyle. The Warriors closed the gap to one (12-11) in the sixth but the Rams plated the final six runs to hold on for the win.
Samuel Bass was awarded his first collegiate win on the mound, throwing two scoreless innings in relief.

GAME TWO – W, 17-4
In the seven-inning contest, it was Nyack again who started the scoring in the first with a pair of runs. However, Jefferson immediately responded with four runs. Coyle's three-run homer to left highlighted a five-run second for the Rams as they increased the margin to 9-2. Five more runs in the fourth made it 14-2 then
Chase Fike's two-run triple and a wild pitch in the fifth upped the lead to 17-2. The Warriors added two final runs in the seventh.
Bryce Herman earned the win with two perfect relief innings.
