Men's Soccer Scores Late Goal To Tame Georgian Court

LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Thomas Jefferson University men's soccer team picked up its third straight win to end the regular season with a 2-1 decision at Georgian Court on Monday. The Rams are 3-3 on the campaign.

Jefferson will wait to see who its first-round opponent will be for next week's CACC Tournament, beginning on Tuesday, April 6. This season, all eight teams competing will qualify for the playoffs.

GAMEPLAY
It took just 43 seconds for the Rams to find the back of the net, with Val Mokrejs heading in Geoffrey Little's throw. It started a dominant first half for Jefferson, in which it outshot the Lions 10-1 and had a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.

However, Georgian Court made adjustments and had the better of play in the second. The Lions produced nine shots after the break to just three for the Rams. They also held Jefferson without a corner kick while attempting six of their own. The effort paid off in the 74th minute, when GCU tied the game with a set play off of a corner.

The Rams kept at it, though, and came up with the winning goal in the 85th minute. Gabe Paz sent a long pass ahead to Mohamed Jawara, who beat the goalkeeper to the bottom left corner for the 2-1 lead. The Lions had an opportunity in the 88th minute but Kris Donaldson came up with the save to preserve the victory. It was one of two stops for Donaldson on the afternoon.
