PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University softball team dropped a pair of CACC games to Dominican (N.Y.) on Tuesday afternoon. The Rams have a 3-3 record.
GAME ONE – L, 6-2
The Chargers pushed an unearned run across in the first inning on a RBI double. Jefferson evened the score in third when
Emily Akelaitis drove in
Ali Murphy with a single up the middle. Dominican took over with a five-run fifth, all of them unearned. The Rams had two runners on with one out in the bottom of the frame but could not score. A leadoff walk in the sixth could not spark a Jefferson rally and the Rams tallied their final run on a wild pitch in the seventh.

GAME TWO – L, 8-5
The teams were scoreless through the first two innings before the Chargers took the lead with three runs in the third on a trio of RBI singles. Jefferson got two back in the bottom half. Akelaitis singled in
Emily Kuberski and
Sam Gomez followed with a single to plate Murphy.
Dominican increased the advantage to five (7-2) in the fourth and added another unearned run in the fifth to make it 8-2. The Rams cut it to three (8-5) in the bottom of the fifth as Akelaitis smacked a two-run homer and
Cayla Kalani added a run-scoring single. However, Jefferson managed just one baserunner in the final two innings.
