Sullivan's Overtime Winner Gives Women's Soccer the Victory in Regular Season Finale

PHILADELPHIA – Devin Sullivan netted the game winner with just 20 seconds remaining in the second overtime period to give the Thomas Jefferson University women's soccer team a 2-1 victory over Dominican (N.Y.) to end the regular season on Saturday afternoon.

The Rams have a 5-1 record and they will be the second seed in next week's CACC Tournament. The defending conference champion, Jefferson receives a first-round bye and will host a semifinal game on Thursday, April 8 at 3 p.m. The Rams' opponent will be the winner of the first-round matchup between third-seeded Nyack and sixth-seeded Chestnut Hill.

SENIOR DAY
Prior to the contest, Jefferson recognized its five seniors – Danielle Samson, Casey Sheehan, Kasey Schlupp, Meredith Lapen, and Quinn Haba.

GAMEPLAY
The Chargers came out strong, recording four of the first six shots of the game. The fourth shot proved to be the one that put Dominican on the board in the 13th minute. The Rams evened the score in the 40th minute as Alessandra DiStefano set up to cross the ball into the box and her ball was misplayed by the goalkeeper, ending up in the back of the net.

Jefferson began to control play in the second, outshooting Dominican by a 12-3 count. However, the Chargers' goalie turned away six shots and neither team was able to go in front, forcing overtime. Dominican posted all three shots in the first extra session but none found the cage.

In the second overtime, the Rams had a 4-3 edge in shots and had one final opportunity in the closing seconds with a throw-in on the right sideline in the offensive end. The ball found its way to Emma Kuciapinski, who got off a cross into the box. Sullivan was streaking in and got enough inside position on the defender to tap it in for the win. Danielle Samson made six saves in goal to move to 4-0.
