PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University baseball team split a pair of games against CACC opponent Dominican (N.Y.) on Friday. The Rams are 9-5 overall and 6-2 in the conference.
GAME ONE – W, 4-3
Jefferson broke the ice in the second inning with three runs.
Joe Cencetti smacked a triple to score
Efrain Santiago then
Arturo Figueroa blasted a two-run homer to left center to make it 3-0.
The Chargers responded with three in the third to even the score. They benefitted from an error, a sacrifice fly, and a RBI single.
The game remained tied until the bottom of the sixth.
Alex Gonzalez led off the frame with an infield single. He moved to third after a pair of groundouts then scored on a wild pitch to give the Rams a 4-3 lead.
Matt Bukavich recorded the final three outs in the seventh to close out the victory.

GAME TWO – L, 10-6
The Rams scored first once again, posting a pair of runs in the first inning.
Ryan Sawyer sent a triple into right field and plated
Efrain Santiago and
Richard Joa. Jefferson made it 3-0 in the second on a RBI single by
Dylan Rees.
Dominican came back to tie the game in the third on a two-run homer and a solo shot. The Chargers took a 6-3 lead in the fourth with another two-run bomb and a run-scoring triple.
Jefferson closed the gap to 6-4 in the bottom of the fourth on a RBI base knock by
Joe Cencetti. However, Dominican added two more in the sixth on a double to make it 8-4. A passed ball and a RBI single in the seventh upped the advantage to six (10-4).
The Rams pushed across two in the bottom of the seventh.
CJ Goodz scored on a wild pitch and Joa came home on a groundout by Santiago. Jefferson's deficit was too much to overcome, however, as the Chargers closed it out to earn the split.
