Baseball Splits CACC Doubleheader With Dominican

PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University baseball team split a pair of games against CACC opponent Dominican (N.Y.) on Friday. The Rams are 9-5 overall and 6-2 in the conference.

GAME ONE – W, 4-3
Jefferson broke the ice in the second inning with three runs. Joe Cencetti smacked a triple to score Efrain Santiago then Arturo Figueroa blasted a two-run homer to left center to make it 3-0.

The Chargers responded with three in the third to even the score. They benefitted from an error, a sacrifice fly, and a RBI single.

The game remained tied until the bottom of the sixth. Alex Gonzalez led off the frame with an infield single. He moved to third after a pair of groundouts then scored on a wild pitch to give the Rams a 4-3 lead. Matt Bukavich recorded the final three outs in the seventh to close out the victory.
