Second Half Rally Comes Up Short For Women's Lacrosse In CACC Title Game

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The second-seeded Thomas Jefferson University women's lacrosse team rallied in the second half but it was not enough to overcome a 10-2 halftime deficit at the top seed Georgian Court as the Rams fell to the Lions, 15-10, in the CACC Championship Game on Sunday. The Rams end the campaign with an 11-3 record.

GAMEPLAY
GCU opened the scoring just 35 seconds into the contest. Lilly Kull evened the score for Jefferson at the 26:35 mark. The Lions then went on a 7-0 run spanning eight minutes to take an 8-1 lead with 14:52 left in the first half. Madison Caffrey stopped the surge at 13:57 to get the Rams within six (8-2) but Georgian Court tallied two more goals before the intermission.

The Lions struck again to start the second period, increasing their advantage to nine (11-2) with 25:35 on the clock, their largest margin of the contest. Jefferson began to storm back, however, netting seven of the next eight goals to close the gap to three (12-9) with 10:14 to play. Kull led the charge with three tallies and Erin Avanzato scored twice during the stretch. The teams traded goals and it was still a three-score game (13-10) with 5:10 remaining. However, GCU scored the final two goals and allowed just two shots the rest of the way, neither of which found the back of the cage.
