PHILADELPHIA - The Thomas Jefferson University women's rowing team took another step in the evolution of the program this month, becoming the sole tenant of Crescent Boat Club on Historic Boathouse Row on July 1.

Since 2016, the Rams shared Crescent with other area rowing programs but now will have exclusive access to the club, with the exception of the club's private membership.

"This is a great opportunity for Jefferson Rowing to grow and secure their footprint amongst the great University rowing programs along Boathouse Row," said Assistant Director of Athletics and Head Women's Rowing Coach Chris O'Brien. "Further, this is a testament to the support the University has for its rowing program and athletics. I look forward to working with Crescent Boat Club as we improve upon the club and the quality of rowing within the club."

The women's rowing program began in 2006 with the team signing a 10-year lease with Whitemarsh Boat Club and Hines Rowing Center in Conshohocken. In 2016, the Rams transitioned from Whitemarsh to Crescent Boat Club on Historic Boathouse Row.

Jefferson's new lease with Crescent Boat Club runs through 2029.
