SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Thomas Jefferson University volleyball team came back from a 2-1 deficit to defeat host Shippensburg, 3-2, on Saturday to go to 10-0 on the season.

GAMEPLAY
The Raiders jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the opening set. The Rams caught up to tie it at nine but then Shippensburg scored five of the next seven to go ahead 14-11. Jefferson responded with a 4-1 rally to even the score at 15. The score was tied at 18 when the Rams surged forward with four straight points to take a 22-18 lead. The Raiders got within one (22-21) but Jefferson held them off to win the frame 25-22.

In the second, Shippensburg again got out to a 4-1 advantage. The Raiders held the upper hand until the Rams came back to tie it at 12. It was part of an 8-2 Jefferson run that ended with the Rams in front 17-14. The Rams were still in control late in the set (23-20). However, the host team stunned Jefferson with a 7-2 spurt to claim the set 27-25.

The Raiders dominated the third to take a 2-1 lead in the match. Shippensburg scored the first three points of the stanza and never trailed on the way to a 25-14 victory. The Rams came back and took the opening three points of the fourth set. Shippensburg evened the score at seven before Jefferson put together an 8-3 rally to take a 15-10 lead. The Raiders recovered to bring the set to a 16-16 deadlock with a 6-1 run but the Rams closed the frame with a 9-2 run to take it 25-18 and force a decisive fifth set.

In the final stanza, Jefferson scored the first two points and never looked back. Shippensburg was never able to even the score but was within striking distance at 11-9. However, the Rams tallied the final four points to win the match.
