Men's Soccer Comeback Falls Short at Nyack

KEARNY, N.J. - The Thomas Jefferson University men's soccer team (1-3-1, 0-2-1 CACC) came out on the wrong end of a 5-3 decision in a CACC match at Nyack on Saturday.

GAMEPLAY
The Rams had an early opportunity with a corner kick in the second minute but it was the Warriors who struck first, taking a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute. Jefferson responded just one minute when Mohamed Jawara picked up his first goal of the season with an assist by David Bollmann.

The two squads traded chances until Nyack converted in the 21st minute to take a 2-1 advantage. The Warriors scored again in the 35th minute to make it 3-1 and finished off an impressive first half with another tally just 20 seconds before halftime for a 4-1 stranglehold.

The Rams quickly got back in the game in the second period, with Jawara notching his second marker of the contest less than 90 seconds into the frame. Nyack came back with a scoring opportunity but hit the crossbar. Jefferson pressured, recording three corner kicks and three shots within an eight-minute span while the Warriors hit the bar once more. The Rams' effort paid off as Jawara set up TJ Hibsman for a goal in the 61st minute to get Jefferson within one (4-3).

However, the Warriors' defense tightened, conceding just one shot attempt the rest of the way. Nyack clinched the result with an insurance goal in the 87th minute.
