Men's Soccer Suffers Overtime Setback at Le Moyne

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Le Moyne found the back of the net off of a free kick just under three minutes into the first overtime period to give the Thomas Jefferson University men's soccer team a 2-1 loss in the Rams' season opener on Sunday.

GAMEPLAY
Jefferson controlled play early on in the contest, producing the first three shots and earning a trio of corner kicks. However, the game remained scoreless. The Dolphins recorded more opportunities over the last 30 minutes of the half, outshooting the Rams 5-3, but the teams were even at the break.

In the second half, Jefferson broke the ice in the 50th minute. Glenn Holmes converted a free kick from 38 yards out, sending the ball just inside the right post. The lead was short-lived, however, as Le Moyne netted the equalizer just 38 seconds later with a header at the left post. The Dolphins had a chance to go in front in the 60th minute with a penalty kick but Rams' keeper Matteo Crescente came up with the save.

Jefferson had a 6-4 edge in shots over the remainder of regulation time but could not find the go-ahead tally. In overtime, Le Moyne registered the only two shots on its way to the victory.
