PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University women's basketball team (10-3, 3-1 CACC) bounced back with an 80-65 victory over visiting Dominican (N.Y.) on Saturday afternoon.
GAMEPLAY
The Rams scored the first five points of the game on a three by
Maeve McCann and a
Haley Meinel layup. Jefferson did not relinquish the advantage for the rest of the opening quarter and took a 21-16 lead into the second.
The Chargers began the second stanza with a 7-2 run to even the score at 23. The Rams came back with four points to go ahead but Dominican answered with nine of the next 11 to take control by three (32-29). Jefferson rallied again, this time for a 9-2 surge, to claim a 38-34 lead heading into the intermission.
The Rams increased their cushion to nine with a 9-4 stretch to begin the third quarter. Four different players scored in the run. Jefferson led by as many as 11 (57-46) in the frame but the Chargers closed the gap to five (59-54) entering the final period.
Dominican hit a jumper to open the fourth and cut the deficit to three (59-56) but the Rams responded with 11 straight points for their largest lead at that point at 14 (70-56).
Morgan Robinson led the spurt with six points. Jefferson maintained a comfortable margin for the rest of the contest, leading by as many as 16.
