The Golden Bears opened the scoring with an RBI groundout in the first. Kutztown broke it open with six runs in the second and seven in the third. All six runs in the second were unearned. The Golden Bears recorded 10 hits over the two frames, including a grand slam. Kutztown's final run came on an RBI base hit in the fourth.

The Rams were held off the basepaths until the fourth when they loaded the bases with no outs. However, the Golden Bears responded with a pair of strikeouts and a fly out to get out of the inning unscathed. Jefferson's two runs came in the fifth on a two-run double by Julia Heine.
