NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Thomas Jefferson University women's lacrosse team placed six student-athletes on the All-CACC Team, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference announced on Tuesday.
Erin Avanzato and
Julia McLaughlin garnered All-CACC First Team honors. The Rams had four All-CACC Second Team selections, including
Ellie Lefton,
Carina Raymond,
Erin Campbell, and
Jen Spencer.
Avanzato leads Jefferson with 61 points on 39 goals and 22 assists. She ranks second on the squad in both goals and assists. Avanzato is also the team leader in draw controls (100) and has compiled 26 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers. The sophomore ranks in the top 10 in the CACC in assists, points, and draw controls. It is Avanzato's second All-CACC nod after being named to the second team in 2021.
McLaughlin earned her first career All-CACC selection after performing as one of the top defenders on the Rams' defense. She is second on the team in caused turnovers (20) and third in ground balls (29). The sophomore has also posted one goal and 12 draw controls. She is tied for eighth in the CACC in caused turnovers. McLaughlin's play has helped Jefferson rank second in the conference with an 8.54 goals against average.
Lefton is the Rams' assists leader with 46 helpers on the year. She has also scored 11 goals and her 57 total points are second on the squad. Lefton has 20 ground balls, nine caused turnovers, and one draw control to her credit. She is second in the conference statistics in assists. The sophomore set up a season-high eight goals versus Holy Family on March 22. It is Lefton's second consecutive All-CACC Second Team accolade.
Raymond leads Jefferson with 44 goals this season. Her 47 points are third-most are the team. She has tallied three assists, 13 ground balls, 11 caused turnovers, and three draw controls. Raymond is eighth in the conference in goals. The sophomore has netted a season-high six on two occasions. It is her first career All-CACC nod.
Campbell paces the Rams with 40 ground balls and 23 caused turnovers while ranking second with 76 draw controls. The two-time CACC Defensive Player of the Year sits in the top 10 in the conference in all three categories. Campbell has also totaled 15 goals and 16 assists. It is her fourth All-CACC honor as she previously earned first team recognition in 2021 and 2019 while garnering second team accolades in 2018.
Spencer grabbed her first career All-CACC honor after being a key contributor to a Jefferson defense that ranks second in the conference in goals against average. The Rams have also allowed opponents to convert at just a 64.7% rate on clear attempts. Spencer has recorded 19 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers on the year.
Jefferson is the second seed in the CACC Tournament and plays a semifinal game on Friday, April 29 at 2:30 p.m. versus an opponent to be determined.
