HOCKESSIN, Del. – The Thomas Jefferson University baseball team (14-14, 5-6 CACC) dropped a CACC game at Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday by a 10-6 score.
GAMEPLAY
The Rams opened the scoring in the second, putting up four runs.
Zack Austin doubled in a pair,
Arturo Figueroa plated one with a double, and
Ryan Sawyer also brought home one with a two-base hit. The Lightning got two back in the bottom of the frame on a two-run homer.
Both teams pushed a run across in the third. Figueroa picked up another RBI with a sacrifice fly and Goldey-Beacom countered with a sac fly of its own to make the score 5-3. The Lightning then took over with a six-run fourth. GBC got within one on an RBI single before jumping ahead with a three-run shot to left field. The Lightning later added a two-run base hit to go ahead 9-5.
The Jefferson offense went cold after the third, recording just one baserunner from the fourth through seventh innings. Goldey-Beacom tacked on another run in the seventh on a double and the score was 10-5. The Rams got going again in the eighth, scoring on a groundout to close the gap to four (10-6). However, they could not inch any closer and GBC closed out the win.
