Women's Lacrosse Wins At Wilmington, Ups Win Streak To Six

NEW CASTLE, Del. – The Thomas Jefferson University women's lacrosse team (6-3, 5-0 CACC) pulled away in the third quarter for a 14-9 win at Wilmington (Del.) on Tuesday.
 
GAMEPLAY
The Wildcats netted the first goal just 17 seconds into the contest. However, the Rams answered with the next six tallies, two each by Madison Caffrey and Erin Avanzato, to take a 6-1 lead with 11:41 remaining in the second quarter. Wilmington came back with three in a row to close to within two (6-4) at the 1:17 mark before Lilly Kull found the back of the net with 39 seconds left to give Jefferson a 7-4 halftime advantage.
 
The Rams started strong in the third, scoring three straight within the first three minutes to up the margin to six (10-4). After a Wilmington goal, Jefferson posted two woman-up goals to make it a 12-5 game entering the fourth. The Wildcats produced the first two markers of the final quarter to cut the deficit to five (12-7) with 11:28 to go. However, the Rams then kept Wilmington off the board for nearly 10 minutes while netting a goal of their own to lead 13-7 with under two minutes to play.
