Women's Soccer Offensive Attack Helps Rams Take 5-2 Win Over St. Thomas Aquinas
SPARKILL, N.Y. - Thomas Jefferson University women's soccer team (5-2-1) went on the road to take their fifth consecutive win in a 5-2 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas (2-6) in non-conference action this Tuesday afternoon.
WHAT HAPPENED
Gianna Garozzo made her shot at the 10th minute mark to get the Rams ahead 1-0. The Spartans were able to snap Jefferson's four game shutout streak with a shot hitting the back of the net at the 28th minute to even it up at 1-1. Mia Ferrara would answer quickly as she got a pass from Nikki Dedes to get Jefferson up once more. Ferrara would keep helping Jefferson ahead as she gave the ball to Garozzo, who would net her second goal of the half to push the lead to 3-1. St. Thomas Aquinas would get one more goal to go into the half trailing Jefferson 3-2.
Jefferson would lead the half with 12 shots to the Spartans seven. St. Thomas Aquinas would have five saves in the first half, with Jefferson only having two.
Alexa Callahan would then get in the scoring action as she would find the back of the net at the 49th and 60th minute marks to give the Rams a 5-2 lead that they would hold onto for the end of the game. Jefferson would not only keep the offensive attack going, shooting 15 shots in the second half, but only allow the Spartans two shots during that entire period.
