Volleyball Swept at Felician
RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Thomas Jefferson University volleyball team (15-10, 11-3) would look to secure their position in the conference postseason as they went on the road to the Golden Eagles, but the Rams would drop their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) matchup against Felician University 3-0 in Saturday afternoon action.
WHAT HAPPENED
Both teams would have early runs, with Felician starting a 5-0 while the Rams earned the next six in a row. Jefferson would get more momentum early on as they would eventually take a 16-9 advantage. Felician continuously cut into the lead, eventually getting ahead at 24-23. The Rams would tie the game with the next point, forcing a two-point advantage win in the first set. Eventually the Golden Eagles would take the set 28-26.
Felician would jump out again in the second set, putting a 6-1 lead early on. Jefferson would keep pushing the pace, but the Golden Eagles continued their assault as they made it 16-8 halfway through the set. Jefferson did trail only by two points 19-17, but the Golden Eagles would earn six of the last 10 points to finish the second set 25-21.
Jefferson took a quick 3-2 lead in the third set, but Felician would take four of the next five points. After another lead change for the Rams, the Golden Eagles would go on a 12-2 run and create an 18-9 advantage. Jefferson would try to cut into the lead once more, but Felician built too much of a lead and would capitalize on it, eventually winning 25-16 and earning the sweep over the Rams.
