Men's Basketball Drops 62 in First Half; Wins 110-82 Over Saint Anselm
PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University men's basketball team (5-5) shot on all cylinders in the first half, scoring 62 points in that time period to give themselves a comfortable lead and eventually cruise to a 110-82 victory over Saint Anselm College (4-5) in non-conference action this Saturday afternoon.
WHAT HAPPENED
The Rams got out early 5-2 with a
Ahmed Barba-Bey three and an
Antonin Kemkeng layup. The Hawks would answer with Sean McCarthy and Tyler Arbuckle three as they were within one point.
Justin Hawkins and
Erik Timko would make layups while Barba-Bey converted from beyond the arc to have it at 20-14 with 12:21 to go. After Saint Anselm made their basket, Jefferson would begin a 42-12 run throughout the rest of the first half.
Ashton Miller,
Hakim Byrd, and Barba-Bey would all have threes to begin the route, making it 29-20. Byrd would hit two more three, having 13 points in the first half, while Timko had two registered from beyond the arc.
Bismark Nsiah would make two and-ones and score 10 points in the first half. Jefferson would head into the break up 62-28. The Rams shot 68.57% on the field, 9-15 (60%) form beyond the arc.
Kemkeng would start the second half with and an-one, helping him score three of his team-leading 23 points on the day. McCarthy would begin to score more in the second half, leading all scorers with 26 points in the afternoon. Tyler Arbuckle scored a layup and three-pointer while Keith Robinson made a fastbreak bucket to cut the Ram's lead 80-48 with 14:03 to go. Jefferson would keep up with the Hawks, as Byrd hit another three and Kemkeng had two layups while
Bismark Nsiah had their own basket as it became 93-59 with just 9:03 to go.
Timko would hit a three pointer to push the Rams past the 100-point total in a game, first time this season for Jefferson. The Rams would see more players contribute in the game, with
Jeremiah Dorsey hitting two three's with the last five minutes in the game as Jefferson finished the match with a 110-82 win.
