Second Half Struggles Lead To Men's Basketball Loss at Post

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Thomas Jefferson University men's basketball team (12-10, 8-4 CACC) had its three-game win streak come to an end with a 76-61 loss at Post (13-9, 8-5 CACC) on Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Eagles started strong, scoring the first eight points of the contest. The Rams were down 10-2 when they had a 13-2 rally to take a 15-12 lead with 11:46 on the clock. Jason Shields led the way with a pair of threes, Antonin Kemkeng totaled four points, and Bismark Nsiah added three. Post followed with a three-pointer to even the score at 15 apiece. Jefferson trailed 24-21 before recording six straight points to go in front 27-24 with 5:31 to go. The Rams maintained the upper hand for the rest of the half and took a 33-32 lead into the intermission.
 
In the second half, the Eagles got off to a flying start once again, registering 12 of the first 16 points for a seven-point advantage (44-37) with 16:24 remaining. Jefferson was only able to get within three (49-46) before Post pulled away with a 12-0 run to up the margin to 15 (61-46) with 9:14 left. Ahmed Barba-Bey's three with 2:15 to play got the Rams within single digits (67-58) but Jefferson missed its next five shots as the Eagles went 9-for-11 at the foul line down the stretch to wrap up the win.

Despite the loss, Jefferson holds a two-game lead for first place in the South Division with five conference games remaining. The Rams' magic number to clinch a CACC Tournament berth is two.
