WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Twenty-fifth-ranked West Chester (11-4) used a nine-run fourth inning to pull away from the Thomas Jefferson University baseball team (7-8) as the Rams fell to the Golden Rams, 16-5, in non-conference action on Wednesday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Jefferson opened the scoring in the first as
Ryan Coyle singled in
Alex Gonzalez for a 1-0 lead. West Chester answered with three in the bottom of the inning to go in front. One run came home on a fielder's choice and two scored on a single.
The Rams evened it up at three in the third, scoring on an error then an RBI base hit by
Diego Santiago. The Golden Rams went ahead again in the bottom of the frame on a run-scoring groundout. West Chester broke it open with nine runs in the fourth on five hits, including a three-run homer. Jefferson left eight runners on from the fourth through eighth innings and could not chip into the deficit.
