PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Thomas Jefferson University baseball team (2-3) split a doubleheader at Pace (3-1) on Saturday.
GAME ONE – L, 9-3
The game was scoreless until the fourth inning when the Rams took a 1-0 lead on an RBI single by
Gabe Silva. However, the Setters responded with a pair in the bottom of the frame to go ahead 2-1. Pace was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and scored on a fielder's choice.
The Setters upped the margin to four (5-1) in the fifth. They recorded an RBI double followed by a run-scoring base hit and an RBI groundout. Jefferson closed the gap to two (5-3) in the sixth, scoring on a wild pitch and an RBI double by
Joe Cencetti. However, Pace came back with a four-run bottom of the sixth. One run scored on an error, two more came home on a single and a sacrifice fly, and another touched the plate on a double steal attempt. The Rams went down in order in the seventh to end the opener.

GAME TWO – W, 7-6
Jefferson took a 2-0 advantage in the second, scoring on a pair of errors. The Setters got one back with a leadoff homer in the bottom of the frame. Pace took the lead in the third with two runs on back-to-back RBI singles.
In the fifth,
Alex Gonzalez led off with a walk,
Jay Kalieta scored Gonzalez with a triple, then
Gabe Silva recorded a sacrifice fly to put the Rams in front 4-3. The Setters went ahead again with a three-run sixth, scoring on two wild pitches and a fielder's choice.
Down to its last at-bat, Jefferson rallied for three runs in the seventh to take the lead for good. Gonzalez came home on a sacrifice bunt, Kalieta touched home on an error, and
Marquise Wood drew a bases-loaded walk. Pace got the tying run to third base in the bottom of the seventh but
Anthony Pillari recorded a strikeout to end the game and pick up the win.
