HOCKESSIN, Del. – The Thomas Jefferson University baseball team (20-18, 9-7 CACC) suffered a pair of losses at Goldey-Beacom (27-13, 12-5 CACC) in a conference doubleheader on Friday.
GAME ONE – L, 6-5
The Rams took a 2-0 lead in the opening inning, scoring twice with two outs on
Marquise Wood's RBI single and
Chris McLean's steal of home. The Lightning went in front with a four-run second. GBC smacked a three-run double and had an RBI sacrifice bunt.
Justin Espinal drew a bases-loaded walk with two down in the third to get Jefferson within one (4-3). The Lightning scored on a wild pitch and a double play in the fifth to up the margin to three (6-3). The Rams got the two runs back in the seventh on an error and a bases-loaded walk.
Jefferson had two runners on in the eighth but were unable to score. The Rams were retired in order in the ninth.

Goldey-Beacom jumped on Jefferson with 14 runs over the first two innings. The Lightning recorded nine hits and the barrage was highlighted by a grand slam. The Rams scored once in the third on a
Marquise Wood RBI single. Jefferson added three in the fifth on a two-run homer by
Justin Espinal and an RBI base hit by
Joe Cencetti.
