PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University baseball team (22-18, 11-7 CACC) broke out the bats and swept a conference doubleheader versus Dominican (10-31, 7-12 CACC) on Sunday.
GAME ONE – W, 9-0
Sean Morgan worked his way around seven hits and hurled a complete-game shutout for the Rams in the opener. The Chargers had opportunities but Morgan got out of several jams, stranding eight runners on base during the outing.
The Jefferson offense provided support beginning with five runs in the fourth. The first three hitters reached and
Matt Vita moved them station-to-station with an RBI single.
Dylan Rees drew a bases-loaded walk and
Alex Gonzalez followed with a two-run base hit. Rees then scored on an error to make it 5-0.
The Rams tacked on four more runs in the fifth with the first three batters reaching once again. Vita was then hit by a pitch, forcing in a run. Rees singled in a pair and Gonzalez plated Vita with a groundout.

GAME TWO – W, 10-7
Dominican took an early lead with a three-run homer in the opening frame but the Rams answered with eight runs in the bottom of the inning. Jefferson registered four hits during the rally and benefitted from three walks, a hit by pitch, and three wild pitches. The Rams added two more in the second to make it 10-3.
The Chargers scored once in the third and three times in the seventh to get within three (10-7) and threaten a comeback but Jefferson was able to close it out for the sweep.
