Men's Basketball Rolls Into First CACC Win Over Dominican

PHILADELPHIA - The Thomas Jefferson University men's basketball team (7-6, 1-2) created a pace they would not yield through the game as they shot 66.0% on the field and scored their second 100 point game with the Rams earning a 110-81 win over Dominican University of New York (9-5, 1-3) to earn their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory of the season.

WHAT HAPPENED
Jefferson started the game down 5-4 from a Juelz Dickerson three-pointer and an Emmanuel Smith layup, but Erik Timko hit one of his three shots from beyond the arc to put Jefferson up 7-5, with the Rams maintaining the lead throughout the rest of the contest. Bismark Nsiah would score six of his 15 points in quick fashion, making a three and converting the and-one play to put Jefferson up 17-9. The Chargers would cut to the Ram's lead with a 13-6 run capped by Isaiah Honish jumper to make it 23-21 halfway through the first half.

Jefferson would begin to pull away, as Ashton Miller and Erik Timko made three pointers back-to-back from each other to get into a double digit lead for the Rams. Ahmed Barba-Bey would make a jumper while Hakim Byrd scored five straight points from a shot beyond the arc and on a fastbreak to get the Rams lead up 40-23. Ashton Miller would make another layup, helping him to score 21 points off the bench and keep up Jefferson's advantage over Dominican. Timko would hit one more three, while making a pair of free throws while Nsiah went 4-4 at the line in the final two minutes of the half, putting Jefferson up 55-34 heading into the break.

The Rams would pick up right where they left off as Byrd hit a three to open the scoring for Jefferson. They would go on a 11-4 run to begin the second half as Nsiah had four points during that stretch. Dominican had their own run by scoring nine in a row to be down 68-50. Miller would stop that momentum as he hit two three-pointers, going 3-3 in the second half from beyond the arc, as the Rams went back up 78-50. Jefferson would not let their lead go, holding the momentum to the 3:50 mark as Timko made a layup to go up 101-74 with 3:50 to play. Troy McGregor would hit a layup while Jack Monyihan and Jeremiah Dorsey each had a three as the Rams cruised to a 110-81 win and take their first CACC win of the season.
