Women's Tennis Secures CACC Tournament Appearances Despite Defeat to Goldey-Beacom
PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University women's tennis (5-5, 3-5) competed in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Wednesday afternoon against Goldey-Beacom College (6-3, 5-3). The Rams ultimately fell to the Lightning 5-2. Despite the defeat, the Rams were able to secure a spot in the CACC Tournament later in October.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Goldey-Beacom took the doubles point on the day. The Lightning won the second position match 6-2. Jefferson responded with a 6-4 win in the third spot by Zenia Barretto and Emily Frost to have the deciding point go from the first spot. The Rams held it close, but ultimately dropped their set to Goldey-Beacom 7-5.
- Rose Huang started off the singles match with a point in the fourth position while Alycia Veroux ended the day in a three set win at the first spot for Jefferson, earning them two points in those matches
- Jefferson was unable to get a win in the middle positions, falling in the third, second, fifth, and sixth spots in that order as the Lightning took the victory 5-2
- Getting some help on the day, Chestnut Hill College defeated Post University 7-0 in their matchup. That loss for Post clinched the Rams into the CACC Championship Tournament on October 19th, with Jefferson holding the tiebreaker over the Eagles
