Women's Volleyball Earns Third Win in a Row with Sweep Against Kutztown

KUTZTOWN, PA – Thomas Jefferson University women's volleyball team (9-13) got on the road to compete in non-conference action as they took on Kutztown University (1-20) in Wednesday night action. The Rams went to earn their third consecutive win this season with a 3-0 sweep over the Golden Bears. 

WHAT HAPPENED 

• After an early 3-3 tie, Jefferson put up a 7-1 run, getting them ahead 10-4 

• After a few Golden Bear points, the Rams seven in a row that forced a Kutztown timeout as Jefferson led 17-6. Emily McKenna had three service during that run while Pemi Areola earned a kill alongside a block with Morgan Ritchie 

• The Rams went to take the first set 25-10 

• Kutztown made the second set close, tying with the Rams multiple times throughout as well as taking the lead a few times 

• With the Golden Bears ahead 15-14, Jefferson put up an 11-2 run to take the second set 25-17 

• The Rams had six straight points in the beginning of the set with a Kristine Guenther service ace while Caroline Bond, Liz Tanis, and McKenna added kills to make it 10-4 

• Kutztown got as close as five points, but Jefferson had control throughout the entire third, taking it 25-11 and winning the match 3-0
