Women's Volleyball Wins in Four Sets Against Dominican
PHILADELPHIA, PA - Thomas Jefferson University women's volleyball (14-16, 9-6) competed against Dominican University (10-12, 7-8) in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Thursday, November 14. The Rams dropped one set to the Chargers but came back to win the match in four.
WHAT HAPPENED

The Rams take the first three points of the match after kills from Liz Tanis and Morgan Martin and an attack error on Aaliyah Ellis. The Chargers can tie up the score at 10-10, until Caroline Bond goes up to get a kill, and Morgan Ritchie aces Kaitlyn Carr bringing the Rams ahead 12-10. Nearing the end of the match the Rams go on a 7 point run that ultimately sets them up to take the first set 25-18.

In the second set its the Charger who can claim the first few points after kills from Layla Shipley Alexandria Lasi. Mckenna puts up another kill, but the Chargers can handle it and go on a 3 point run bringing the score to 8-5. The Rams are able to tie up the match at 15-15 after a kill from Pemi Areola. The remainder of the match the Rams are unable to get ahead, as the Chargers win the second set 25-18

Again, the Chargers can generate momentum early in the third with kills from Elizabeth Perez and Ellis. The Rams trailed one point behind in the beginning of the set until Ritchie tied it up at 12-12. The Rams went on a 4 point run giving them the lead until the Chargers can also tie it up again at 22-22. After a kill from Mckenna and two service aces from Evelynn Mufalli the Rams take the set 25-22

Looking to go the five sets the Chargers have a strong start in the fourth after kills from Ellis and Lasi. Cameron Johnson gets two service aces, and Martin collects another kill to bring the Rams ahead 8-5. The Rams can control their lead throughout the set, with Bond and Ritchie continuing to dominate at the net. Areola with another kill bringing the Rams to 20, as Perez also claims a kill trying to generate some energy for the Chargers. Ritchie is able to put up three kills in the last five points of the match, bringing the Rams to 25 to take the victory in four sets.
