Women's Volleyball Continues Momentum with Sweep Against Holy Family
PHILADELPHIA, PA – Thomas Jefferson University women's volleyball (11-14, 6-5) began to get their groove as they won four out of their last five matches heading into their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest against Holy Family University (7-16, 4-7). The Rams kept that streak going, earning the 3-0 sweep over the Tigers in Friday evening competition.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Both teams started off even, with Holy Family going up 11-9. Jefferson pulled out a 9-1 run from blocks by Morgan Martin and Jaysa Even while Emily McKenna and Liz Tanis had a kill each
- The Rams took nine of the last 13 points to earn a 25-16 set one victory
- Second set was similar as both teams were evenly matched to begin the set. Holy Family put up three straight points to jump ahead 9-8
- Jefferson responded with six in a row, featuring kills by Tanis and Morgan Ritchie while Caroline Bond had two service aces
- The Tigers crawled to get within three points of Jefferson, but the Rams took three of the final four points to take set two 25-20
- Jefferson got out to a strong start in the third, going ahead 12-4. Holy Family looked to make a comeback, putting up a 12-6 spree that saw the Tiger trail by two
- The Rams ended up taking seven of the final eight points to win the third set 25-17 and earning a 3-0 victory
