SPARKILL, N.Y. - Thomas Jefferson University men's basketball (8-4) looked to end the calendar year on a high note, but were ultimately upended 87-71 to St. Thomas Aquinas College (8-5) in Saturday afternoon non-conference action. 

WHAT HAPPENED 

  • Spartans had control in the first half as they outscored the Rams 39-29 

  • It was competitive through most of the first half, with the score at 20-19 in favor of St. Thomas Aquinas. Jefferson got within one by two Ashton Miller free throws. 

  • The Spartans went on a 19-8 run as they saw Deshawne Crim score 10 of his 12 first half points during that stretch 

  • Second half the Rams looked to get closer but were unable to as St. Thomas Aquinas put up 47 points to Jefferson's 42 

  • Cosby Napoleon put up nine points in the second half for Jefferson, going 4-6 at the free throw line 

  • The Rams have been defeated by the Spartans in five of their last six meetings between the two teams
