Softball Finishes Spring Break with Victory Against Haskell Indian Nations
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Ending their spring break trip down at Myrtle Beach, the Thomas Jefferson University softball team (5-4) concluded their matchup with a 9-1 victory over NAIA school Haskell Indian Nations University.
WHAT HAPPENED
The Rams got out early with four first inning runs. Claudia Alldred hitting a single to left field allowed Sage Bolonski to home plate, taking the first score of the game. Alldred joined her teammates at the dugout after scoring a run from Sabrina Pastino hit to right field. A fielding error by the Indians gave Pastino and Annalise Pudimott to reach home and give the Rams a 4-0 lead.
Haskell scored a run in the third inning to cut the lead at 4-1. Jefferson responded by putting up two more runs in the bottom of the same inning. MacKenzie Ward double and Martiza Lopez-Gonzalez out by shortstop allowed two Rams to add runs on the board for a 6-1 advantage.
Jefferson went to score three runs in the bottom of the fourth with Alldred, Rozalee Negron, and Victoria Juckniewitz all rounding the bases for the Rams to have it at 9-1. Three batters went up for Haskell, where each one either had a flyout or pop out to initiate the eight-run rule as Jefferson won 9-1 in five innings.
