Softball Wins Game One; Splits CACC Doubleheader with Bloomfield
PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University softball team (8-7, 2-2) competed against Bloomfield College of Montclair State University (5-11, 2-2), in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action, where they split the series with the Bears. The Rams won game one 4-1, but fell in five innings 11-2.
WHAT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: W, 4-1
Bloomfield got on the board first as a double to center field gave the Bears a 1-0 lead in the first inning. The Rams would only get to second base in the first four innings, unable to tie it with Bloomfield. Jefferson eventually broke that stigma as a double by
Remy Smith brought
Rozalee Negron to homeplate, giving the Rams the run and a 1-1 tie.
Jefferson produced three runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Claudia Alldred hit a single to the middle that allowed
Bridget Shields to homeplate and a Jefferson lead. Alldred was returned the favor by a error from a
Cayla Kalani hit, sending her home and making it a 3-1 game. Negron delivered a single to center field, putting Kalani at homeplate and established a 4-1 Rams lead. Bloomfield had runners on second and third, but a flyout to right field ended the game in a Jefferson victory.
